2018 - COMPANY

March 23, 24, 25, 29, 30, 31 and April 5, 7 & 8, 2018
Music & Lyrics by Stephen Sondheim / Book by George Furth

Company is a 1970 musical comedy with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by George Furth. The original production was nominated for a record-setting fourteen Tony Awards® – winning six. Originally titled Threes, its plot revolves around Bobby (a single man unable to commit fully to a steady relationship, let alone marriage), the five married couples who are his best friends, and his three girlfriends. This concept musical is composed of short vignettes, presented in no particular chronological order, and linked by a celebration of Bobby’s 35th birthday. Company was among the first musicals to deal with adult themes and relationships. As Sondheim says: “Broadway theatre has been for many years supported by upper-middle-class people with upper-middle-class problems. These people really want to escape that world when they go to the theatre, and then here we are with Company talking about how we’re going to bring it right back in their faces.” The star-studded 2011 New York Philharmonic concert version, directed by Lonny Price, featured Neil Patrick Harris, Stephen Colbert, Jon Cryer, Cristina Hendricks, Anika Noni Rose and Patti LuPone. David Burrows directs the production, fresh off helming Korda’s 2017 comic masterpiece Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike. Musical direction is by Sam Poole.

“Brilliant.” – Boston Evening Globe.

“… masterpiece of the gentle art of musical theater…” – Chicago Tribune.

2018 - STRANGERS

May 25, 26, 27, 31 and June 1, 2 & 3, 2018
Written by Aaron Bushkowsky

In Bushkowsky’s beautiful Canadian Play, Strangers Among Us, Gabrielle and Michael meet by accident, fall in love, part, meet again and fall in love all over again. Every time they meet, they forget each other’s name because they suffer from Alzheimer’s disease. Eventually, they end up at a long-term care facility where they meet other people suffering from the same malady, extraordinary people who live and die with courage and hope. Michael and Gabrielle find love again and again and, in the process, change the lives of the people around them. The director of this production will be determined at a later date.

“Brings tears and laughter… it is a drama with humour.” – Ingersoll Times.

2018 - CLEOPATRA

July 12, 13, 14, 19, 20 & 21, 2018
Written by Charles Busch

The turbulent life of Cleopatra, Queen of the Nile, is told, viewed through the outrageous comic lens of master parodist Charles Busch. In his latest drag romp, Busch evokes both 1930’s Hollywood epics and the grand 19th Century romantic theatre of Sarah Bernhardt. This version of the life of the ill-fated Egyptian Queen takes her from her teenage seduction of the Roman leader Julius Caesar through her volatile romance with Mark Antony and to her ultimate death. Charles Busch’s Cleopatra has echoes of the many great stars that have played her on stage and on film, such as Claudette Colbert, Elizabeth Taylor, Vivien Leigh and several who thankfully didn’t, including Jean Harlow, Barbara Stanwyck and Mae West. Korda has previously staged hilarious and unforgettable Busch plays including Psycho Beach PartyTheodora: She-Bitch of ByzantiumVampire Lesbians of SodomDie, Mommie! Die!The Divine Sister, and Pardon My Inquisition. As with Korda’s other Busch offerings, Cleopatra will be directed by Jeff Marontate. *Strong language and mild adult themes.

“… always smartly campy, often over-the-top, occasionally very raunchy, and always hilarious – with an infinite all-you-can-eat-buffet of priceless lines and situations running throughout... It’s amazing that… modern culture is still fascinated with a certain Egyptian queen named Cleopatra… If the Queen of the Nile is yet again ready for reinvention, who better to do it than award-winning gender-bending actor and playwright Charles Busch?” – The Huffington Post.

2018 - FUN HOME

September 14, 15, 16, 20, 21, 22, 27, 28 & 29, 2018
Music by Jeanine Tesoro / Lyrics & Book by Lisa Kron
Based on Alison Bechdel’s best-selling graphic memoir

Welcome to a musical about a family that is nothing like yours… and exactly like yours; about looking back, and moving forward; about making sense of our parents, and ourselves. The winner of five 2015 Tony Awards® including Best Musical, Fun Home is based on Alison Bechdel’s best-selling graphic memoir. This groundbreaking production introduces us to Alison at three different ages, revealing memories of her uniquely dysfunctional family that connect with her in surprising new ways. The story concerns Bechdel’s discovery of her own sexuality, her relationship with her gay father, and her attempts to unlock the mysteries surrounding his life. It is the first Broadway musical with a lesbian protagonist. David Burrows directs this thrilling musical for its Windsor Premiere.

“… speaks universally about big things that matter: life, love, family, surviving.” – Daily News.

“Exquisite. An emotional powerhouse that never lets you out of its embrace for a moment. No wonder the audience sprang as one from its seats at the ending, and the start of living.” – Chicago Tribune.

“Fun Home is an instant classic of the American musical theater, and a monumental piece of art… This is musical theater at its best… an emotional roller-coaster ride, a grippingly heartwarming story mixed with some of the most smart and joyful musical numbers presently on Broadway. Seekers of provocative, invigorating and entertaining theatre will find it. You’ll be surprised, and thrilled, and enthralled.” – The Huffington Post.

2018 - MACBETH

October 19, 20, 21, 25, 26, 27 and November 1, 2 & 3, 2018
Written by William Shakespeare

Shakespeare’s unforgettable tragedy - thought to have been first performed in 1606 - dramatizes the damaging physical and psychological effects of political ambition on those who seek power for its own sake. A brave Scottish general named Macbeth receives a prophecy from a trio of witches that one day he will become King of Scotland. Consumed by ambition and spurred to action by his wife, Macbeth commits crime after crime to claim the throne and protect himself from enmity and suspicion becoming a tyrannical ruler. The bloodbath and consequent civil war take Macbeth and Lady Macbeth into the realms of madness and death. In the backstage world of theatre, some believe that the play is cursed, and will not mention its title aloud, referring to it instead as The Scottish Play. Over the course of many centuries, the play has attracted some of the most renowned actors to the roles of Macbeth and Lady Macbeth. It has been adapted to film, television, opera, novels, comics, and other media.

“… taut, thrilling and, at times, terrifying.” – The Globe and Mail.

“… not for the faint of heart… in a country where even now we are debating how much we as a nation should engage in the world… Macbeth offers a chilling narrative of how this influence, and the siren call of power, can be used for evil.” - DC Metro Theatre Arts.
