Show Synopsis and Our Production

Everything in Hatchetfield seemed normal until people began singing... Then, they began dancing... And now, a musical pandemic is sweeping the entire city. It’s up to Paul (an average guy who doesn’t like musicals) and his friends/co-workers to stop this musical apocalypse and fight for humanity’s future. THE GUY WHO DIDN’T LIKE MUSICALS is a horrifying comedy musical that premiered in Los Angeles and was created by the folks behind A Very Potter Musical and Holy Musical, B@man! Korda’s production will a be a laugh-filled, meta musical comedy poking fun at music theater tropes and filling the stage with electric sci-fi horror and conformist office culture parody. This production is presented through special arrangement with StarKid Productions, LLC. www.teamstarkid.com

“The Guy Who Didn’t Like Musicals is hilarious, horrifying in its underlying message... more than just a loving mockery of musical theatre. It can be heartbreaking at times.”  – The Lafayette

“It’s also some of the best satire of musical theater as a genre to ever exist.”  – The Scarlet Letter

Available Roles

  • Paul – The titular guy who doesn’t like musicals. He works an office job, has a crush on Emma, and until now has just let life happen to him.

  • Emma – Barista at Beanie’s Coffee, a job she doesn’t enjoy much. Romantic plot develops with Paul. Generally sarcastic.

  • Charlotte – Paul’s co-worker, a parody of a naïve, dissociative, unhappy wife. Married to Sam.

  • Bill – Paul’s co-worker, a divorced father trying his best to connect with his daughter Alice. A bit of a weenie.

  • Ted – Paul’s co-worker. Self-proclaimed sleazeball, quotes Borat.

  • Sam – Police officer and Charlotte’s husband. Having an affair and generally a tool.

  • Professor Hidgens – a recluse, paranoid professor whose theorized the spreading disease of the play. Overdramatic, off-kilter and passionate.

  • Mr. Davidson – Paul’s boss. Full of conviction.

  • Alice – Bill’s teenage daughter. In a somewhat rebellious phase.

  • General MacNamara – General of a secret government agency. Direct, blunt, and operates on a need-to-know basis.
